Harry Asatrian

Harry Asatrian, Esquire, is Of-Counsel with the law firm of Vosbikian & Vosbikian, LLC, and is a Partner at Strasser Asatrian, LLC practicing Immigration and Nationality Law.  Harry practices immigration law with special emphasis on corporate and employment-based immigration matters. Prior to forming Strasser Asatrian, LLC, Harry was the Founder and Managing Partner of Strasser Asatrian, Asatrian & Syme LLP.

After more than a decade as an entrepreneur, Harry began his legal career and training at Proskauer Rose LLP, one of the most prestigious firms in the country. As an Associate in Proskauer’s Immigration Practice Group, Harry worked closely with corporate in-house legal departments and human resource managers of Fortune 500 multinational companies advising on worldwide employment-based immigration strategies and compliance. He advised companies and foreign national employees on immigration matters in various industries including the pharmaceutical, financial, government, health and manufacturing sectors. He successfully prepared nonimmigrant and immigrant visa petitions on behalf of these multinational companies.

Harry is regarded by his peers as one of the most knowledgeable immigration attorneys in preparing immigrant visa petitions in the most difficult categories such as, Extraordinary Ability and Outstanding Researcher. His in-depth and meticulous research of the nature of foreign nationals’s expertise coupled with labor intensive preparation and documentation of these petitions, utilizing the most up-to-date technology including graphic design, diagrams and visual aids, has resulted in favorable decisions by the Service.

Harry has conducted I-9 audits for some of the world’s largest companies under Department of Homeland Security investigation and negotiated favorable settlement terms for same with government agents. He has also drafted I-9 compliance and retention policies for multinational companies.

Harry’s articles have appeared in prominent publications in the field including, The Metropolitan Corporate Counsel, New Jersey Lawyer, International Legal Strategy, New Jersey Law Journal as well as, 2004-05 Immigration & Nationality Law Handbook. His article entitled, “Are Foreign Companies at a Higher Risk of National Origin and Race Discrimination Liability for Appointing Essential Expatriates in Their U.S. Subsidiaries” was published in The Metropolitan Corporate Counsel and New Jersey Lawyer. In the area of immigration law, Harry has published, “Twenty-First Century Act of 2000: Unresolved Issues and Implications of September 11th” in International Legal Strategy and most recently, his article entitled, “Advance Degree Exemption Opens Door to Foreign Experts” appeared in the New Jersey Law Journal.

Harry has also been invited to speak at local, regional and national immigration seminars and conferences on immigration topics such as Violence Against Women’s Act, Special Immigrant Juveniles, Extraordinary Ability and Outstanding Researcher petitions as well as Child Status Protection Act.

Harry has successfully litigated federal immigration matters in District and Circuit Court of Appeals including Writ of Habeas Corpus petitions, Mandamus Actions, as well as, Asylum, Withholding of Removal and Constitutional issues. As lead counsel in Kassa v. Chertoff, 2:06-cv-5534 Harry litigated a Habeas Corpus petition in N.J. District Court, in which Senior District Court Judge Debevoise granted the petition and ordered the government to return a deported Ethiopian national back to the United States, a highly uncommon success among immigration lawyers. As a result, he also received attorney’s fees and costs from DHS under the Equal Access to Justice Act. After the U.S. Department of State working with DHS brought Mr. Kassa back to the United States, he was granted Asylum by Immigration Judge Iskra after a hearing held in Arlington, Virginia.
